Anyone with internet access and basic technology has heard of iTunes. iTunes started when the iPod hit the scene. Although it is not required that an iPod owner use iTunes as its music source, the program offers many options that certainly make music and other types of entertainment available.

iTunes offers a library of music that spans the globe in its variety and also offers music that dates back as far as music was recorded. When a user signs up for an iTunes account, they provide their basic internet information and also give a credit card. Once an account is established, that user can at any time log onto the iTunes Store and search for music and buy it instantly. In addition to the vast library of music, iTunes allows a user to share their purchased music with up to 5 authorized computers/users at no additional cost. So a user who buys a great song, can let their friends listen to it as well. iTunes also lets a user burn any of the music in their library onto CDs so they can listen to it anywhere.

In addition to an endless library of music, iTunes also offers television shows that can either be purchased by the episode or the entire season can be purchased even for a show whose season is not yet completed. Once a new episode airs, the episode automatically downloads to the user’s computer the next time they log on. iTunes also offers users the ability to purchase full length movies, generally at a cost lower than if they were bought retail. Movies can also be rented from iTunes for a few days at a minimal cost. Podcasts and games are also a feature of the iTunes program that appeals to both young and older users alike.

iTunes seems to offer an endless amount of entertainment options and each day there seems to be more on the horizon. With the great success of the iPod and the growth in technology, iTunes is sure to be on the cutting edge of entertainment availability.
