One of the most recent new CD’s was Eminem’s album titled, “Relapse.” It was released on May 19th 2009 after the rapper took a five year break. The album features record producer Dr. Dre and an appearance by long time rapper 50 Cent. His album set a new record in the United States for the most sales in the first week selling over 600,000 copies. This is the fifth time in a row that Eminem has hit number one with his albums. His album also beat out Green Day’s latest called, “21st Century Breakdown,” which sold over 200,000 copies within three days.
Another famous artist, Whitney Houston is said to release a new CD after seven years. She is one of the best selling artists of all time. She has struggled with drug addiction and has ended an abusive relationship with husband Bobby Brown. Her album is set to debut September 1st, 2009 by her record label Arista the CD title is to be announced at a later date.
Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson are releasing a duets CD on September 8th, 2009. Pete Yorn contacted the actress with his idea and she was excited about the new venture. The CD is entitled, “Break Up,” and includes eight compositions by Yorn. It also includes an interpretation of art rock classic, “I am the Cosmos.” The duet album was created in 2006 in a garage studio. Musician Yorn will also release his fourth studio album, “Back and Forth,” with Columbia records June 23, 2009.
