Competition is the driving force that brings the new innovations to the television market. The latest thing is a TV that you can set on a narrow shelf or hang on the wall. These TV sets are either plasma, LCD or LED. Light Emitting Diode TV’s are the latest thing and produced only by Samsung. Sony has come up with a 240 htz TV that is twice as fast as the other TVs. The top TV brands are Sharp, Sony, Philips, Panasonic, and Samsung.
Other brands have made small inroads into the TV market and these push the bigger companies to move ahead with new innovations. Samsung’s recent move into the LED market shows just what the competition can do. This is a beautiful, very thin TV. The picture is outstanding with very bright colors and dark black. There is no problem with burn in. The LED provides cool, low cost light that lasts longer than any of the other lights. This helps to save energy.
Plasma produces a beautiful picture but has been noted that burn in is a problem. If you watch the news on the national news channels, which have the bands along the bottom, you could get a permanent burn in on the screen. For normal viewing, however, this is very unlikely. Also, these come in 40 inch and larger. They are not available in smaller models.
It is quite interesting as to the power of the recommendations of the salespersons on the success of the brand names. LCD sets are recommended three to one over plasma sets, by the salespersons. Vizio TVs are recommended by salespersons 7% of the time compared to Samsung being recommended 35% of the time. These salespersons sway the world and don’t even know it.
