Some great new DVDs have just been released the first week in June. Unfortunately, there are also some not so great releases as well. At Blockbuster every Tuesday, a few new releases hit the shelves.
"Revolutionary Road" finally hit shelves. Many fans were looking forward to the reuniting of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, hoping to find some of the magic of "The Titanic." Some reviewers thought that they had great chemistry together and others thought that the acting was wooden. The movie is set in 1950s Connecticut suburb with a couple trying to find their way through life together. Most everyone thought it was a movie worth seeing.
"He’s Just Not That Into You" is a comedy based on relationships. This movie received very mixed reviews. Many felt that there were too many story lines to keep track of and there was not a satisfactory ending to the movie as a whole.
"Defiance" is a bit gruesome, but for those who love war movies, it is right up your alley. This movie is based upon a true story of three European Jewish brothers who narrowly escape capture by the Nazis in World War II. The brothers are played by Jamie Bell, Liev Scheirber, and Daniel Craig (James Bond). It has received a three star rating from the critics and a 4.5 star rating from movie viewers. It deals with a dynamic subject matter and is full of action.
If you enjoy watching DVDs of TV series, the following series will be added this week. "The Hunger: Season 1" (4-disc series), "Prison Break: Season 4" (6-disc series), "The Jetsons: Season 2: Vol.1" (3-disc series) and "Quincy, M.E.: Season 3" (4-disc series).
This is just a sampling of the new DVDs to look forward to this week. Hopefully this will help you decide which one to rent this weekend.
