The film "Fast and Furious" will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and UMD on July 28, 2009. This movie is the third sequel where Vin Diesel and Paul Walker reprise their roles as Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Connor, bringing their storyline full circle by having Dom and Brian competing in street races and chasing drug dealers.
Dom, whom has been living in the Dominican Republic and truck-jacking big rigs for their fuel, returns to Los Angeles where he plans to avenge his longtime girlfriend, Letty, whom has been murdered. Of course, Dom and Brian meet once again on the street racing scene. "Fast and Furious" had a budget of $85 million and took in over $346 million at the box office. The DVD will more than likely bring in as much revenue, if not more.
Film critic, Chris Barsanti, has nothing good to say about this third sequel. As far as he is concerned, it doesn't come close to the "perfectly enjoyable piece of work" that the very first movie, with its "neon-colored muscle cars" and a "still-trying" Diesel, that played up the family drama where honor and loyalty was the theme of the day. Barsanti gives the film 1.5 out of 5 stars, and Brad Brevat, another critic, tends to agree with him; though he feels he had a ton of fun reviewing it.
Ratings by critics were low overall. This is probably because anyone who has watched any of the other films, has been waiting for the return of Dominic Toretto since the first film in 2001.
