The new animated feature film "Coraline" is a winner among the critics. This instant classic is the first hand-made stop-motion feature film produced by the Portland, Oregon-based animation studio LAIKA. The story is about one of life’s essential truths: be careful what you wish for, the results might not be what you really want.
In this movie, based on Neil Gaiman’s book, Coraline has moved with her parents to Pontiac, Michigan. Coraline’s parents are both consumed with their work-from-home jobs and do not have time to entertain the eleven-year old girl. Her father suggests that she explore the one-hundred and fifty year old house where they now live. During her exploration, she discovers a miniature door. As she follows the tunnel on the other side, she meets the button-eyed versions of her parents. Her button-eyed parents have plenty of time to spend with Coraline and shower her with attention. At first, Coraline relishes in her alternate-world parents until her visit there turns dangerous. Coraline must use all her resourcefulness and determination to get back to the real world and save her parents.
This animated film is available on DVD July 21. There is a Blu-ray Hi-Def combo pack for $39.98, a two disc Collector’s Edition for $34.98 and a single disk DVD for $29.98. The Blu-ray Hi-Def and Collector's Edition include bonus features that takes you behind the scenes and shows you the intricate handcrafted art of this film. The Blu-ray combo pack includes even more bonus features, behind the scenes exclusives and interviews with the filmmakers.
