The iPod Touch

The iPod Touch (a portable media player, digital assistant, and wi-fi mobile device) was released in September 5, 2007. The iPod Touch has some similarities with other touch screens in Apple's current line of laptops. Every iPod touch has applications you can buy with the application store. You can access the app store through your iPod touch and buy apps for a fee or for free depending on which application it is. You can download them right on your iPod touch. You can download all sorts of applications which can be many different things including music, videos, calculators, weather updates and many more.

They used to have a one billionth application download contest. The person who downloaded the one billionth application was a 13 year old boy named Connor Mulcahey. He won a MackBook Pro 32GB iPod Touch, a time capsule, and 10,000 iTunes store gift card. Apple has created an operating system for the iPod touch called iPhone 0S that only takes up 240 megabytes memory. It has four abstraction layers including the core OS layer, the core services layer, the media layer, and the Cocoa Touch layer. These abstraction layers hide the annoying detail about the function. The iPod touch has similarities to the iPhone while the iPod touch is slim and light, the iPhone has no speaker, silent switch, and the sleep button is on the other side. Some call the iPod Touch training wheels for the iPhone.
