Blu-ray seems to be the newest item in technology to take over the VCR and DVD player. It is said that it is the greatest thing since the invention of those two. It even has its own discs that are capable of holding much more information than any other disc. In fact, it is sort of like the amount a computer stores. A single-layer disc can hold up to 25 gigabytes of data, and a double, not surprisingly, doubles that, with a capacity of 50 gigabytes. This is more than five times the storage available on a regular DVD, which allows video quality to be much enhanced.
Everything is in high definition on Blu-ray, which makes for a clearer picture. It is the latest rage, not only for the kids, but for adults as well. It appears that the stores are having a hard time keeping them in supply because of the demand for them.
There are several reasons why they are so popular; one, of course, is the amount of data that can be stored on the discs. Also, many popular movies are now available on Blu-ray. It seems that Blu-ray is supported by all of the leading companies that have anything to do with recording, including those from the video game and music industries. In other words, if it has been on any kind of recording device, you will now want to have it on Blu-ray, because it is the Cadillac or the Rolls Royce of the recording business. It won't be long before there will be one in every household.
